MIDISCO CATALOG 2003 - NEW PRODUCT SUMMARY

The latest edition of the MIDISCO full line catalog is due to be released soon, and will be featured on the website. It contains many new products, as well as expansions and additions to existing lines. Since these products are all currently available, many are summarized here to assist our customers in their present and future planning.

Resistive Power Dividers: This popular line has been greatly expanded to include 2-way through 5-way devices. Key 50 Ohm, 2-way products include a Type N divider operating to 18 GHz, and a 2.9 mm unit operating to 26.5 GHz. The balance of the new products – numbering over 24 part numbers - include 2-way through 5-way SMA units, as well as 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm type N, BNC, and TNC. All units are symmetrical, allowing complete port interchangeability.

Fixed and Variable Attenuators: Included here are fixed high power attenuators up to 300 watts with type N, SMA, BNC, TNC, and 7/16 connectors. Also featured are GPO attenuators rated for 6, 12, 18, 26.5, and 40 GHz respectively, 40 GHz 2.9 mm units, 50 GHz 2.4 mm units; and specialty attenuators including Adapto-Pads, which are DC-18 GHz Type N to SMA Inter-Series attenuators. SMA flange mount and stripline connectors with integral fixed attenuators, 12.4 GHz BNC attenuators, and “DC Pass” F and type N attenuators, are additional new products. Two DC to 12.4 GHz units (0-9 dB, 1-dB steps; 0-60 dB, 10-dB steps) have been added to the MDC2017 line of Rotary Step Attenuators. Further, MIDISCO now offers Continuously Variable Attenuators (CVA’s) in industry-standard bandwidths to 18 GHz, with either a Screwdriver or Turns Counting Dial adjustment, both with a locking device.

Terminations: Included here are medium and high power terminations (up to 300 watts) with type N, SMA, BNC, TNC, and 7/16 connectors, as well as 2.9 mm units spanning DC to 40 GHz, and specialty devices such as F series terminations.

Waveguide Components: A wide assortment of Waveguide (W/G) components can now be supplied by MIDISCO. Featured in the new catalog will be fixed attenuators, terminations, and dummy loads covering WR650 to WR28. We also supply W/G straight sections (rigid and flexible), transitions, mitered and swept bends, directional couplers, and pressure inlets.

Pin Diode Switches: MIDISCO now offers TTL compatible switches having widespread applications in EW and Communications Systems,. and Automated Test Equipment. We offer a cost-effective selection of narrow-band and high-performance broadband designs, encompassing SPST through SP5T reflective and absorptive implementations. The drivers operate from +5V, and -15 +/-3V power supplies. All switches are DC blocked on the RF ports.

Doubly, Triple Balanced Mixers: MIDISCO can supply double balanced mixers for cost-effective performance, and triple balanced for superior third order (IP3) intercept performance. Mixers are available to cover RF and LO frequencies from 0.01 GHz to 18 GHz in various bandwidths. Many of the triple balanced units are optimized to cover specific bands (Cellular, PCS, LAN). AC and DC coupled IF ports are available, as well as Image Reject components. Mixers with field replaceable SMA connectors can also be supplied.

Coaxial Delay Lines: MIDISCO now has a full line of standard Delay Lines that can service many customer applications with a short delivery time. They include delays of 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 nanoseconds, using 0.086”, 0.141”, or 0.250” semi-rigid cable. Larger cable diameters decrease insertion loss, and increase power handling capability. We also produce Delay Lines to exacting customer requirements.

Broadband 2.9 mm DC Blocks: The MIDISCO product line continues to grow, consistent with industry needs for higher and higher frequency coaxial components. These DC blocks are offered in 26.5 and 40 GHz models, are capacitively coupled, and essentially transparent to RF signals up to 40 GHz; while providing a minimum of 55 dB of rejection at 65 KHz.

Bias Tees: MIDISCO’s Broadband Bias Tees are available in selected bandwidths for operation up to 18 GHz; including a model covering 0.3 to 18 GHz in a single package. Current handling is as high as 8 amperes in standard units. Many units are also available in a 0.500” x 0.380” x 0.200” Surface Mount package.

3.5 mm Phase Equal Adapter Kit: MIDISCO’s 3.5 mm Phase Equal Adapter Kit consists of a Male-Female, a Male-Male and a Female-Female in-series adapter that have equal electrical insertion lengths. This allows them to be readily interchanged in test and measurement setups without significantly degrading system calibration. They feature 34 GHz operation with a VSWR of 1.15 to 18 GHz, and 1.25 to 34 GHz, and are supplied in a protective storage case.

50, 75 Ohm Transformers, Matching Pads: MIDISCO now provides off-the-shelf minimum-loss matching pads, as well as matching transformers. Transformers have a lower insertion loss than minimum-loss pads, but have a finite bandwidth. The most common connector series available in 50 and 75 _ impedances are type N, TNC, and BNC, and are the thrust of MIDISCO’s product line.

F Series Calibration Kit: The MIDISCO F Series Calibration Kit is available in 3 basic options. The -1 kit contains a male open, short, and termination, while the -2 kit contains a female open, short, and termination. The -3 kit contains the contents of both the -1 and -2 kit. Kits can also be user customized by adding components such as 75 Ohm to 50 Ohm matching pads or transformers, and inter and intra series adapters.

2.4 to 2.9 mm Inter-Series Adapters: This series of MIDISCO adapters addresses the growing need to inter-connect units having 2.4 mm and 2.9 mm interfaces respectively. They are especially useful in the laboratory when test equipment fitted with 2.4 mm connectors needs to be used with components that feature 2.9 mm, 3.5 mm, or SMA connectors. All adapters are specified to 40 GHz. VSWR is 1.10 to 18 GHz, 1.20 to 26.5 GHz, and 1.30 to 40 GHz.
